Welcome to the Department of Physical Geography’s Automatic Weather Station (AWS).
Access to both real-time and archived data is available and information is provided on what is measured and the instrumentation used. The data recorded at our weather station are archived at 1 minute intervals over the last 7 days, and at 15 minute intervals going back to April 1992. Links to other Sydney weather observations and an archive of interesting and typical events are also provided.
Station Location
The Automatic Weather Station is located within the sports grounds of Macquarie University at North Ryde, Sydney, Australia. Its latitude, longitude and elevation are 33 degrees 45 minutes and 55.1 seconds South and 151 degrees 7 minutes and 3.2 seconds East and 66.8 m above mean sea level (accurate to 4.4 m). This is a new location known as "Macq.Uni. No.2". The Automatic Weather Station is known as AWS 2. Prior to January 9 1998, the Automatic Weather Station (known as AWS1) was located on the Macquarie University campus. It was moved to its current position to make way for a car park.
The AWS is now located to the north of the university on the northern side of the M2 Hills motorway as shown on this campus map.
